The last few weeks have been crazy trying to pull this whole thing together. Nothing ever gets finished when you want it and when you are just giving everything away sometimes you start to second guess yourself.
I was getting into that kind of headspace....
......then Chann3ls "Behave" came on, and I was reminded of why I do this.
I do this to find that diamond in the rough, the undiscovered talent that the world just HAS TO HEAR! It's not about the money for me, I have proven that time and time again with my actions. If you think about the scene and how many people are in it, that is only a minute fraction compared to the Producers out in the burbs slaving away at making music for weeks on end, only to have it heard apprehensively by their best bro and family.
Chann3l started this production thing a little later, but I think thats what adds character to his music. He isn't trying to be yolo mcswaggins, hes trying to make real music with soul. Coming from the same generation as myself, we have very different experiences of our early 20's, dubstep and then trap, then the death of dubstep, hybrid, and future trap. We have both been there to see this whole evolution, but in totally different capacities.
Chann3l has been out in the burbs, makin' music, meanwhile I was tearin it up in the scene and burning myself out. The only way I know of him is because he took the time to run some google searches for Vancouver Trap Blogs, and I had just happened to put a submission form up. It all worked really nicely and now I have a new friend. It's refreshing to see someone my age (well slightly older) who just keeps pushing to promote himself. Well, now that hes on my radar I'm going to do what I can to get the word out.
OH YAH THE SONG!
We posted a playlist of Chann3l tunes a couple weeks ago and I was going off about his future trap sound laced with a bit of gritty dubstep vibes. Well, this song he went full future on us and saved the dubstep for another day. "Behave" starts out pretty somber but then evolves into a more motivational vibe. I like what he did with the horns to sort of add a bit of flume flava and of course those bubbly digi synths are always fun. But I gotta say my fave is the vocal chops, I'm a sucker for them. I love how vocal chops convey a message and emotion despite not actually saying anything comprehensible. I first fell in love with them when Skrillex was on the come up. The Extended version of "Long Drive" comes to mind, as the song is basically vocal chops for minutes on end but it has a real emotional effect on you. Anyways Condens8 over and out! I have said enough. Below is that Skrillz tune if u wanted to revisit it.
